  1. Friday: Jazz & Blues with the Welland Valley Stompers at The Falcon in Uppingham. Free admission (bar open and food available to buy). This much-loved local band will play off and on between 8.30 and 11pm.
  2. Friday: Pennyless Folk Group is performing at Langham Village Hall. Doors open 7pm, entry is £10 to include something to eat, plus there’s a cash bar.
  3. Saturday: Ketton is holding a traditional Wassailing event that kicks off at 4pm in the Old Orchard at Hall Close, with Ketton Community Choir taking the vocal lead. Bring something to ‘bang’ like old pots and pans, or a football rattle, to frighten the devil out of the orchards and ensure a good harvest. Rutland Morris Men will be performing too, and after the wassailing is done, the Northwick Arms is the likely retreat for mulled wine and good food. Wrap up warm and take a torch.
  4. Saturday: Stamford Chamber Orchestra presents a contemporary interpretation of two ancient musical favourites: compositions based on Thomas Tallis and Elgar favourites. Venue is The Ballroom at Stamford Arts Centre; tickets £12.50, start time 8pm. See stamfordartscentre.com
  5. Friday, Saturday & Sunday: Cottesmore Village Players are putting on a Panto! Snow White with matinees on Sat and Sunday, and evening shows every night. Tickets 01572 768 040
