ROCKS BY RAIL: This volunteer-run outdoor museum at Cottesmore chronicles what many may be surprised to learn about: Rutland’s industrial past!

Iron ore was quarried in a small way in a number of villages around Rutland, including Cottesmore, connected by narrow and standard gauge railway lines.

So ‘The Living Ironstone Museum’ appeals to railway enthusiasts, geologists and industrial historians alike.
